Uniforms
We wear uniforms in band so that the attention is on the group and the group's musical product, not on the individual. This lets the music be center stage and not the performer. The Frontier Band has two uniforms: marching band and concert band. Find out more below.

Marching Band Uniforms
Our marching band uniforms are modern band uniforms that have stretch and are washable. This contrasts with traditional band uniforms that were typically wool, hot, heavy, and needed to be dry-cleaned often. In line with other modern band uniform trends, we do not wear hats or gloves. These uniforms allow us the freedom to move more creatively and are easier to keep clean. At Frontier, students typically purchase their own uniform (please size up) and keep the uniform for the remainder of their time in band. This includes black pants (bibbers) and a jacket that zips in the back. The only other parts of the uniform are knee high black socks (which can be purchased at any store), a t-shirt (you will receive this at band camp), and black band shoes (see link below to purchase).
Concert Band Uniforms
Our concert band uniforms are all-black dress clothes. We wear this attire for more formal performances such as indoor concerts and recitals. Students should aim to wear dress clothes that are "professional looking."This includes button up shirts, slacks, dresses, blouses, and suits. Suits are not required, but are acceptable. Please refrain from wearing jeans, tennis shoes, crocs, flip flops, athletic clothes, etc. Additionally, remember details such as ironing/steaming your clothes, belts, ties, jewelry that is not distracting, and socks and dress shoes. Parents, this is a perfect opportunity to discuss "interview" type clothing and career attire with your kids. Feel free to click the button below to see more examples of "concert performer attire."
